Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (yaɣ-, “to pour, rain”), Azerbaijani yağmaq, Bashkir яуыу (yawıw), Kazakh жауу (jauu), Kyrgyz жаа (jaa), Khakas чаарға (çaarğa), Turkmen ýagmak, Tuvan чаар (çaar), Uzbek yogʻmoq.
