From Ottoman Turkish بڭزهمك (beñzemek). Akin to Old Turkic [script needed] (meŋze-, “to look alike”), derived from Old Turkic [script needed] (beŋiz) / [script needed] (meŋiz, “face, appearance”), from Proto-Turkic *beŋiŕ (“face; to be similar; open forestless place on a mountain slope”).
