Cognates include Azerbaijani bəlli, Karakhanid بَلْكُلُكْ (belgülüg, “manifest”), Chuvash паллӑ (pallă, “sign, label, mark, estimate”), Yakut бэлиэ (belie, “sign, symbol”).
