Borrowed from Asturian nalga or Leonese nalga from Vulgar Latin *natica, an adjectival term based on Latin natis (“rump, buttock”). Doublet of nádega. Compare Catalan natja, Galician nádega, Italian natica, Old French nache, English nates.
