In summary

From Middle Dutch senden, from Old Dutch senden, from Proto-West Germanic *sandijan, from Proto-Germanic *sandijaną. The original past tense was weak with Rückumlaut, thus sande or (through apocope) sant. Based on this latter form the verb then joined the strong class of Middle Dutch vinden, vant, gevonden etc.
