Translations
Pronounced as (IPA)
[ˈrɔ.ɡoː]
Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *h₃roǵós (“stretching”), from *h₃reǵ- (“to stretch out”), with semantic shift "stretch out" > "stretch one's words (to someone)" > "ask", and thus a doublet of regō. Alternatively, from procō and a doublet of precor and procus.
