Cognate with Sanskrit पचति (pácati), Avestan 𐬞𐬀𐬗𐬀𐬌𐬙𐬌 (pacaⁱti), Ancient Greek πέσσω (péssō), Tocharian B päk-, Proto-Slavic *peťi, Albanian pjek.
