Etymology

Probably a back-formation of doccione (“conduit, spout”), from Latin ductiōnem, from ducere, infinitive of dūcō (“lead, guide; draw, pull”), or alternatively from a Vulgar Latin root *ducea, ultimately from the same root. Compare Dozza, a borrowing from Emilian Dòza.
