Etymology
Originally a hydronym; the river Sarria was already documented as Sarria in local Medieval Latin in the 8th century. From a pre-Roman substrate of Iberia, from Proto-Indo-European *ser- (“to flow”). Related to the rivers Sarre and Sar.
