Etymology
There seems to be 2 hypothesis both concerning water. 1) Gand comes the name of a Gallo-Roman vicus called Ganda, a Celtic word that meant confluant. 2) Gand comes from the Celtic word that had a relation with water, Gond. That name Gond was transformed by the Frankish to Gand.
