Etymology

Inherited from Old Spanish orrio, from Latin horreum, from Ancient Greek ὡρεῖον (hōreîon). The standard form in modern Spanish, with /e/ rather than /j/, appears to be the result of a latinizing modification. Compare Asturian horriu, horru and Catalan orri.
