From the name in Dardic. The name's meaning and origin are unknown. Ancient Greek travelers mentioned a warrior group Δαδικοί (Dadikoí) or Δάρδαι (Dárdai) living in the area, Dadikai appears to be the Persian name derived from the Daradas given in the Puranic sources.
