This name is also translated from other surnames, such as German Grün and Gruen, Dutch Groen, Irish Ó huainí (from uaine, see Honan), etc. The Irish surname was also erroneously translated from Ó Fathaidh, Ó Fathaigh, from faithche (“lawn”).
