مكر

Meaning

Etymology

Compare Hebrew מכר (makhár, “to sell”) and Akkadian 𒈠𒆍𒊒𒌝 (makārum, “to do business”). Originally the Arabic root presumably had to do with commerce and market planning but over time the definition expanded to encompass any kind of strategic planning or plotting. Doublet of تَجَرَ (tajara, “to trade”).
