Prononcé comme (IPA)
/ˈte.vi/
Étymologie (Anglais)
From Latin tenuit, third person singular preterite indicative of tenēre. As with the other forms, the N was lost, resulting in teuit, which became tēvit. The I became an E to prevent confusion with tive, the first person singular preterite form of ter.
