to eat

Phát âm là (IPA)
[ˈɛ.doː]
Từ nguyên (Tiếng Anh)

From Proto-Italic *edō, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁édti. The long vowel in some of the forms is probably due to Lachmann's law. Cognates include Ancient Greek ἔδω (édō), Sanskrit अत्ति (átti), Hittite 𒂊𒀉𒈪 (ēdmi, “I eat”), Old English etan (English eat), Lithuanian ėsti and Welsh ysu.
