Etimoloji (İngilizce)

In summary

Said to be from Celtic *borŭna. The ultimate origin of this root would be uncertain, but possibly from Proto-Indo-European *bʰars-, from or related to *bʰers- (“tip, bristle; pointy, prickly”), which would make it related to Welsh bara (“bread”). Compare Old Irish arbor n (“grain, corn”), which is instead from Proto-Celtic *arwar (“grain”). For alternative etymologies, see the apparent cognates Asturian boroña, Old Galician-Portuguese borõa and, descended from this, Galician broa, which have all been said to possibly be from Germanic instead.
