حزر
(İngilizce)
to guess, to arread
Etimoloji (İngilizce)
Augmented from حَزَى (ḥazā), حَزَا (ḥazā, “to compute by conjecture (fruits on a palm etc.)”), a variant of ح ص ي (ḥ ṣ y), ح ص و (ḥ ṣ w), ultimately derivatives of حَصًى (ḥaṣan, “pebbles”) which can be traced to Proto-Semitic. Both roots are ascribed plant names: That حَزَاء (ḥazāʔ, “rue”), this حَزْرَة (ḥazra, “bitter or salty tree or fruit”), a meaning shared with مَقْر (maqr), خَمْط (ḵamṭ), صَبْر (ṣabr), perhaps reminiscing the bland tastes of pebbles.
