Akin to Dutch gieten, Old Saxon giotan, Old English ġēotan, Old Norse gjóta (whence Danish gyde, Swedish gjuta), Gothic 𐌲𐌹𐌿𐍄𐌰𐌽 (giutan). Compare English gush.
