Etymologia (Angielski)

In summary

From Ottoman Turkish یاشمق (yaşmak, “veil”), from Proto-Turkic *yaĺ-mak, from *yaĺ- (“to cover, close”). Cognate with Turkmen ýaşmak (“mouth covering”), Karakhanid يَشْماقْ (yašmāq, “to hide”), Yakut сас (sas, “to hide”). Compare also Karakhanid يَلْما (yalmā, “raincoat”). Equivalent to infinitive of the obsolete verb yaş-.
