Shares common origin with ufatmak, ovmak and öğütmek, from Proto-Turkic *ub- (“to crush, to mince, to grind”) with the suffix -le, took over semantic functions of "uvmak" and "uvamak", examples of which can be found in Karakhanid and Old Uyghur.
