(Engels)

nitric acid

Etymologie (Engels)

From Persian تیزاب (têzâb, “nitric acid”) (literally, “sharp/strong water”). Compare Latin aqua fortis with the same literal meaning. The initial “k” is possibly a contamination from Arabic كَذَّاب (kaḏḏāb, “liar”).
