Frisia

  1. A coastal region along the southeastern corner of the North Sea in what today is mostly a large part of the Netherlands (including present-day Frisia (see below)) and smaller parts of northern Germany (including present-day East Frisia). It is the traditional homeland of the Frisians.
  2. Fryslân, a province of the Netherlands. Also referred to as Friesland (using the Dutch vernacular endonym) and West Frisia.
