Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (saş, “wild, nervous, confused, puzzled”), Azerbaijani çaşmaq (“to make mistakes, be confused”), Khalaj [script needed] (šašqa-, “to slander”), Turkmen çaşmak (“to faint, to be lost”).
