Etimologija (Anglų k.)

Nominalized compound of sağ (“right side”) + dıç (“equal, opposite side”). Cognate with Azerbaijani sağdış (“best man”), Kipchak [script needed] (sagtuč), Old Uyghur 𐽻𐽰𐽲𐽸𐽶𐽽 (sʾqdyc /saġdïč/, “close friend, companion, young follower”). First part of the compound, sağ, originally meant "healthy, sound", as is reflected on the Old Uyghur cognate and the senses 2 and 3 of the Turkish word (see Proto-Turkic *sag (“healthy”) for more.)
