dalkavuk

(Îngilîzî)

  1. sycophant, lackey
  2. (historical) jester

Wekî (IPA) tê bilêvkirin
/daɫ.kaˈvuk/
Etîmolojî (Îngilîzî)

A compound with the second element being kavuk (“caouk”), further etymology disputed. Tietze, Ayverdi et al. derive from dal (“naked”) + kavuk (“caouk”). Nişanyan doubts this etymology, and instead suggests a derivation from dal- (“to dive”) + kavuk (“caouk”), referring to the idiom kavuk sallamak.
