Etîmolojî (Îngilîzî)

Found in Late Latin, but of uncertain origin. Meyer-Lübke lists zapp* as a borrowing from Illyrian, probably zappa and zappo having the same root, as the mattock's blades resembled the billy-goat horns. Related to Albanian capë.
