Étymologie (Anglais)

In summary

From Ottoman Turkish مناو (manav), of unknown origin. Marek Stachowski says, "The initial m- doesn't fit Turkish, but where does its origin lie?" He suggests that it may have passed from Turkish to the Balkan languages (or vice versa). If it is of Turkic languages origin, it may have been adopted from the Kipchak/Tatar languages.
