Étymologie (Anglais)

In summary

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قانمق (kanmak, “to be satiated with drink, to become convinced”), from Proto-Turkic *kān- (“to be satisfied”). Cognate with Old Uyghur qʾnmʾq (qanmaq, “to be satisfied”), Karakhanid قانْماقْ (qānmāq, “to be satisfied”), Turkmen gānmak (“to satisfy one's thirst”) and Mongolian ханах (xanax, “to be satisfied”); a probable Turkic borrowing.
