/so.t͡ʃeˈta/
Étymologie (Anglais)

Borrowed from Latin societātem ("community, society", accusative form), from socius (“partner, ally”). By surface analysis, socio + -età. The senses of "association" and "company" were borrowed later. Doublet of soccida, which was inherited from the Latin nominative societās.
