Ετυμολογία (Αγγλικός)

In summary

From Ottoman Turkish چكه (çeŋe, “chin, jawbone”), from Proto-Turkic *čeŋe (“jaw”). Cognate with Chagatai [script needed] (čeŋe), Yakut сэҥийэ (seŋiye, “chin”). Unclear relationship to Persian چانه (čâne, “chin”), according to Dybo, the Persian form doesn't have an Iranian etymology and rather developed under Turkic influence. Compare Persian زنخ (zanax, “chin”) with regular Iranian etymology, which is supposedly cognate with čâne.
