Ετυμολογία (Αγγλικός)

Possibly borrowed from Old French gaschier, gacher, gasser (“to soil, spoil, waste”) and gaschier, guaschier, waschier (“to wash, soak”), both from Old Dutch *wascan, *wascon, from Frankish *waskan (“to wash, bathe”), from Proto-Germanic *waskaną (“to wash”), from Proto-Indo-European *wod- (“wet”). Alternatively, from guazzo, guazza.
