Etymologie (Englisch)

From French soutien-gorge. The alternative form sutyen is the original one; the fronting of the vowel /u/ to /y/, consistent with Turkish vowel harmony – normally in force only for native Turkish words – may have been influenced by association with the word süt (“milk”).
