From earlier Proto-Italic *-ās-(i)jo- (cf. Oscan sakrasias and Umbrian plenasier), formed from *-āso- (from PIE *-eh₂so-, cf. the Hittite appurtenance suffix -ašša-), extended with the relational adjectival suffix *-yós (“belonging to”).
