Etimologie (Engels)
Probably originally college or showbusiness slang in the United States, then popularized in the American fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar in the 1930s: see quotation. Could stem from Lombardian word "bizzo" meaning "bite". Possibly originates from New York City's Little Italy, where the word could have been used when mixing strong drinks with extra bite. As a fashion word it could have been originally used to describe the attitude factor of gangsters or divas, that they have the "bite".
