Etimologie (Engels)

From Middle High German dulten, dulden, from Old High German dulten, thulten, derived from thult, githult (compare modern Geduld), a verbal abstract of tholēn from Proto-Germanic *þulāną (“to bear, to endure”). The denominal verb forms are originally south-western and spread northward during the Middle Ages (compare Dutch dulden from Middle Dutch gedult). The second -d- is due to voicing after a liquid (as seen in some other words).
